Let’s start out with some fun info about me:
  1. I own a Chihuahua that I treat like my son because I had all girls. His name is Joe. My husband does not like him.
  2. My hobbies include movies (no horrors or scary or sick movies!), food (but I have a lot of food intolerances), and socializing.
  3. I keep something from each of my family beside my bed.
  4. My mom was a Le Leche League Leader and I have learned a lot from her.

A little bit about me
I was born and raised in Kamloops, B.C. I am married to a wonderful man and together, we have six amazing children. In 2013, we relocated to Port Moody, B.C.

My passion for pregnancy, birth, and postpartum
I first became passionate about birth my first born was delivered in the hospital. I feel my labor was mismanaged and that I did not have a voice to use while I delivered my baby into the world. After the birth and the recovery, I started to research my rights and resources so that this would never happen to me again.  On my journey, I found a wonderful community of doulas, midwives, birth advocates, lactation support, and an amazing amount of knowledge.  My next three births were amazing and pleasantly memorable. In 2012, after a frustrating hunt for my own list of birth items, I started a company called Birth Essentials. It was my way to help women have access to affordable birth supplies in our communities.  I have helped family and friends on their journey since then and feel I have a skill set that could help families feel more comfortable during this very exciting time.

Some interesting skills and experience
  • Countless hours of experience with newborn and postpartum care.
  • Breastfed for over seven years, including tandem feeding
  • Attended Le Leche League meetings throughout the 7 years that I have breastfed, as peer support and a member.
  • Six years of experience with wraps, slings, and carriers.

My goal as a postpartum doula
The postpartum period is often referred to as the fourth trimester. Pregnancy and birth is a monumental event for the human body to experience. This fourth trimester is a time for the body to recover, establish feeding, and for family to experience bonding. My goal as a postpartum doula is to support the family during this time in any way they need me to.
